It's hard to believe that we are already almost three months into 2014! I can't quite put my finger on when 2013 ended and a new year began; it all seems to run together at this point. It's been quite an eventful and busy year so far, hence this being my first (and long overdue) blog post; but regardless, I wanted to share this look-back at my favorite concerts and resulting photos from 2013.
**Those who keep up with me on facebook have probably seen most of these already, but I wanted to get them all up on here as I don't generally post photos from every individual concert on this site.**
Last year brought with it many great opportunities for shooting concerts, most of which I photographed for my associate site, Break On A Cloud. Needless to say, there were plenty of bucket list moments shooting some of my favorite artists and bands. We have basically been reaping the benefits of Nashville quickly becoming one of the largest hubs for touring bands (NOT JUST COUNTRTY!!) in the US and I've been loving every minute of it!
Throughout the year, I worked diligently on further honing my skills with regard to concert and event photography; concentrating heavily on the techniques necessary to produce crisp and vivid, publication-worthy images. There's still a lot I have to polish up on, but feel that I really learned a lot and succeeded in many areas...making best use of available light in a venue, finding the most appropriate perspectives and angles to shoot from, applying the optimum exposure and camera settings for concerts (thanks Todd), taking time to compose and get sharp focus, working with a diverse focal range to fully capture the breadth of each event and lastly, subtly editing each image to give that extra pop.
2014 is already shaping up to be an amazing year for concerts and I am excited to continue producing and sharing memorable images from each show that I photograph. I pledge to continue stepping my game up in terms of photographic technique and keep developing my own style through more creative compositions, etc. Also, will hopefully be upgrading some of my camera gear soon, which will help to transcend some of the limitations of my current setup.
